Biography

Who am I ?
My name is David and my pseudonym is ‘'ATS’', born from “Atsu”, itself inspired by the Japanese word “Atsumi”, which I chose for its meaning of warmth, depth and sincerity. It's a name that reflects my vision of art: a way of conveying strong, authentic emotions, beyond words.
I was born in Switzerland, into a family of Portuguese origin. Since childhood, I've always been drawn to images. Very early on, I discovered drawing, graphic design and video editing, which I explored on a self-taught basis. I learned the basics at school, but it was on my own, with passion and curiosity, that I learned to manipulate the tools and build my first visual worlds. It's through this instinctive approach that I develop my eye, my sense of detail and my ability to tell stories without words.
3D arrived more recently in my career, less than a year ago, but it immediately broadened my horizons. It opens up new possibilities, allowing me to merge my influences and materialize larger, more immersive worlds. Today, it's a central medium in my artistic approach.
I'm currently studying Interactive Media Design at ERACOM, where I'm honing my skills in digital design, motion design, interactive storytelling and visual creation. This training helps me structure my self-taught skills, enrich my creative palette and open up to new formats and languages.
My inspirations come from cinema, video games and art in general. It's the strong universes that make the biggest impression on me, those that tell stories through their environment, atmosphere or even a simple detail. Works such as The Lord of the Rings, Berserk and Death Stranding have had a profound influence on me, not only through their aesthetics, but also through the way they bring a world to life, evoking emotion through silence, ruins or landscapes.
What I try to convey in my work is an atmosphere, an emotion, a fragment of a story. I like the idea that my images can take someone on a journey, awaken a sensation, or simply leave one thinking for a moment. I work a lot on environmental storytelling, visual symbolism and the contrasts between beauty and abandonment, light and solitude.
Already active as a freelancer, I'm developing personal and professional projects alongside my studies. My objective is clear: to join the video game or film industry, fields where I can fully express myself and take part in ambitious narrative projects.
My ultimate dream: to create universes that make an impression, that bring something to life. To offer an escape. To tell a story without words. To make the image feel like a memory.
